LASIK - Laser-Assisted vision correction

LASIK (Laser-Assisted in-situ Keratomileusis) is one of the most popular ways to correct vision for those with near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism. Our doctors utilize an all laser, blade-free LASIK solution. During LASIK, a thin layer of tissue is folded back from the surface of the cornea. After the laser reshapes the cornea, the tissue is folded back into place, where it bonds quickly. Healing for most patients is so fast that vision improves within hours of the procedure, and many patients return to work the next day.

Our LASIK method delivers outstanding visual results — many patients achieve vision that is 20/20 or better when LASIK is performed. By improving the uncorrected visual acuity in patients, LASIK often allows people the freedom to go about their daily routine without needing corrective lenses.

The components of LASIK are:

Step 1 — Customized Measurements

The first step in the LASIK procedure is to perform a series of tests to determine the individual characteristics of your vision, with the use of wavefront technology. The WaveScan system creates a 3-D map or a digital “fingerprint” of the imperfections of each eye. Since no two eyes are exactly alike, these wavefront measurements provide our doctors with unprecedented information about the best treatment for your eyes. Then our Advanced CustomVue™ process uses the digital information from that map to design a custom treatment for each of your eyes.

Step 2 — Laser Created Flaps

The LASIK procedure exclusively uses an advanced laser technology called the IntraLase femtosecond laser. The IntraLase Method is a 100% blade-free approach to creating your corneal flap. IntraLase uses ultrafast pulses of laser light to position microscopic bubbles at a precise depth determined by our doctors. The ultra thin flap of tissue created is then folded back in order to perform your LASIK procedure.

Step 3 —Laser Vision Correction

Now that you’ve had your personal vision profile using WaveScan technology and your blade-free corneal flap using the exclusive IntraLase Method, your vision can be corrected using the Advanced CustomVue treatment within the LASIK procedure. The Advanced CustomVue process has earned FDA approval to treat the broadest range of vision imperfections possible, including mild-to-severe nearsightedness, farsightedness and all types of astigmatism.

Meet our patients

Felina’s story:

LASIK has drastically changed my life. I am able to enjoy the summer like never before. I can even ride my motorcycle. My baby is two years old and I don’t have to worry about him grabbing my glasses. I wish I had the procedure a long time ago. I no longer struggle with dry eyes and I have no pain.

I was hesitant about LASIK until I met the doctors here. My overall experience was superior! our doctors is outstanding. They provide your care from the initial consultation and measurements to follow you through surgery and the post-op appointments. our doctors talks you through each step and prepares you for every move he makes at the surgery center. I was not surprised at any point during the process or procedure.

I recommend LASIK to everyone! I only trust my eyes to our doctors.

Gina’s Story:

Life is easier after LASIK. I can enjoy watching my kids at sporting events and not worrying about forgetting my glasses. Swimming is also easier and more enjoyable. When I look through my goggles I can see underwater for the first time in 40 years. People have even commented that I look younger without my glasses.

I have to admit I was afraid of the procedure itself. The whole process on the day of my surgery was so easy. I couldn’t believe how quick it was. I didn’t even have time to worry about it. The procedure was a breeze after I realized our doctors did the first eye.

My LASIK experience with our doctors was awesome. I recommend it to everyone. I figured if Tiger Woods could do it, I could too!
